Meet Bóia Chair! As usual, I always tend to look towards nature as my muse. Nature is timeless and always inspires me in terms of texture, shape, colors, and movement. Mother nature always tends to be unforeseeable and humorous, and I will forever be fascinated by the designs you can find by taking a hike. Bóia Chair was inspired off of organic forms found in all sorts of water formations such as lakes, clouds, and waterfalls. I wanted to emulate the ripple effect with negative space in order to create a call and response dynamic within the chair. This detail is observable in the asymmetrical spirit of the chair with its groovy legs and funky back. I wanted this chair to behave in a playful and unpredictable way, much like water. Bóia is a flat pack chair made of 0.70 inch plywood. She was cut using CNC Router technology.
